Art, life & a place to play
For a long time I have wanted to find a way to make a presence online with my artwork, a place to connect and to make a living. But a simple portfolio or plain online shop felt too ecstatic and impersonal to me. I guess that feeling comes in hand with the fact that it has always been impossible for me to find a label for my work, a medium to always reach for or a specific style. I love painting with watercolors and oils and I’m always taking photographs but I enjoy baking as much and I love crafting with my daughter or writing in my journal.
For me art is about life, about emotion and exploration and is difficult to define. My work is imperfect and hard to describe but it’s honest and close to my heart. It’s an extension of myself, my home and my life.
While I still didn’t find the perfect way to show up, this space to play can be a good place to start. Here I share some of my artwork as it comes naturally, hoping it becomes a cosy home to my work and, luckily, it will inspire other people to become creative, which as a mother and teacher is my main concern, after all we are all just walking each other home.
Mindful
By Mary Oliver
Every day
I see or hear
something
that more or less
kills me
with delight,
that leaves me
like a needle
in the haystack
of light.
It is what I was born for—
to look, to listen,
to lose myself
inside this soft world—
to instruct myself
over and over
in joy,
and acclamation.
Nor am I talking
about the exceptional,
the fearful, the dreadful,
the very extravagant—
but of the ordinary,
the common, the very drab,
the daily presentations.
Oh, good scholar,
I say to myself,
how can you help
but grow wise
with such teachings
as these—
the untrimmable light,
of the world,
the ocean's shine,
the prayers that are made
out of grass?
